Vasanta Viṣuva

Spring Equinox

March 20th, 2027

After the long inward movement of winter, the Spring Equinox marks a moment of balance—and the unmistakable return of life. Day and night stand nearly equal as light increases and the living world turns once again toward growth.

This year’s Equinox gathering turns our attention to Prāṇa—the life force at the heart of Yogic practice. Through direct instruction in breath, movement, and awareness, guests will learn to recognize how Prāṇa moves within the body and how Yoga works with it to cultivate greater vitality, balance, and clarity.

Here in the mountains of Maine, the teaching is unfolding all around us as well. The Equinox offers a rare opportunity to experience the return of life as both a movement of the natural world and a force we can learn to work with consciously within ourselves.

YOGIC PRACTICE

Prāṇāyāma

Go beyond simply “breathing deeply” and explore Prāṇāyāma as the Yogic practice of working consciously with Prāṇa. Through direct instruction, guests will learn how breath, attention, and specific techniques can influence the movement of this vital force and bring greater balance to body and mind.

YOGIC HEALTH

Vitality & the Changing Season

Explore health through the Yogic understanding of Prāṇa and the conditions that allow vitality to flourish. This practical teaching looks at daily rhythm, food, movement, rest, and seasonal change—and how small adjustments can help us move into spring with greater balance and energy.

SEASONAL OBSERVANCE

Welcoming Vasanta

Mark the turning toward Vasanta, the spring season, through flowers, mantra, and sacred offering. Even while winter still holds the Maine mountains, the Equinox marks a real shift: the days have lengthened, the sun is strengthening, and the conditions for new life are quietly being restored.
