Give, As Practice

For nearly forty years, generosity has kept this land and its lineage alive. Your gift continues it.

An Ashram runs on something older than a business model. It runs on dāna—generosity.

Long ago, this Ashram made a choice: the wisdom offered here would never be shaped by what could be sold. Retreat contributions help meet the real costs of welcoming guests, but the Ashram’s finances do not depend entirely on its programs. What is offered can therefore remain guided by the deeper aims of the Ashram, rather than by income.

This is what that choice looks like in practice.

Dāna

Voluntary generosity, offered without expectation of return. Here it takes many forms—a resident's business earnings, a guest's donation toward a retreat, a visitor giving simply because the trails were open. Different amounts, same practice.

The Businesses

Run by residents

Most of what supports the Ashram comes from residents’ own small businesses—each created to offer something of genuine benefit beyond the Ashram. Their earnings are given back entirely, allowing what happens here to remain guided by the deeper aims of the Ashram.

The Land

Open to anyone, free, always

Retreats carry a set cost — though no one is turned away for lack of funds. The trails, temples, and meditation halls carry no cost at all, to anyone, ever.

The Residents

No salary, only what's needed

Those who live and teach here full time take no pay for it—only room, board, and basic needs, in return for years of service to residents and guests alike.

Make an Offering

Give what you're called to give

Your gift keeps the whole thing standing—the land maintained, the practice carried forward, the people who've given their lives to it able to keep doing so. It's a way of practice the world has largely let go of—and one you become part of, simply by giving.

Right now: your gift goes toward renovating our guest buildings and community sauna.

Transparency

Given as dāna, held as trust

More Ways to Give

Money isn't the only offering

Make Your Gift Go Further

Many workplaces match employee donations, sometimes dollar for dollar. Some also offer charitable giving programs, volunteer grants, or other ways to increase your support. A quick check with your employer may significantly extend your gift.

Give a Skill

The Ashram is sustained by many kinds of practical knowledge—from carpentry and building to gardening, forestry, sewing, design, and care of the land.

Right now, we are especially seeking experienced carpenters to help renovate the guest buildings and community sauna. We are also always glad to hear from those with other useful skills to offer.

Help Keep This Possible

The Ashram is sustained through many forms of generosity.

Each gift helps care for the land, maintain the places of practice, welcome those who come, and allow the Ashram to remain open, steady, and guided by its purpose.
