Nature Is the Only Healer

An Immersive Retreat in the Principles of Yogic Healing

The Body's Own Intelligence

The human body is constantly working to maintain health. It closes wounds, regulates temperature, repairs tissue, clears waste, steadies the heartbeat, and rebuilds itself through sleep—an extraordinary capacity for regulation, repair, and renewal.

But that capacity depends upon the conditions in which we live and the choices we make, knowingly and unknowingly: meals eaten without attention, sleep cut short, breath held shallow, and continual exposure to environmental toxins.

Over time, these patterns interfere with the processes that maintain health. Discomfort that once passed begins to linger, and the conditions in which chronic illness develops are gradually established. A Healing Retreat offers the opportunity to understand—and begin changing—this process before illness becomes the reason you must pay attention.

For the duration of your stay, you enter an environment wholly and deliberately shaped to support human health. Nourishing food, regulated breath, natural movement, deep rest, silence, time outdoors, and a daily rhythm aligned with the body’s own intelligence all serve that aim.

This retreat is for anyone who wants to understand how health is built, how it is lost, and how daily life can strengthen it.

The Principles of Yogic Healing
Release · Reverse · Rejuvenate

The yogic approach to healing begins with a simple principle: when unnecessary interference is reduced, the body’s own intelligence can begin doing what it was designed to do.

Release

The first step is to reduce what obstructs the body’s natural processes—
both what we take in and what we fail to release.

Through nourishing food, clean surroundings, breath, movement, rest, sweating, silence,
and reduced stimulation, the burden is lightened. Circulation improves,
the nervous system settles, and less energy is spent managing continual strain.

Reverse

As interference decreases, unhealthy patterns can begin to change direction.

Sleep becomes deeper. Digestion becomes steadier. Energy is produced and used
more efficiently. The body becomes more responsive to its own signals, rather than moving
continuously between overstimulation and exhaustion. The body repairs more effectively
when the systems governing circulation, rest, metabolism, and nervous-system regulation
are working together again.

Rejuvenate

Health is more than the absence of symptoms.

When the body is no longer using most of its resources simply to compensate, those resources
become available for renewal. Energy builds. The mind clears. Movement is free.
Rest is fully restorative. In the yogic tradition, rejuvenation is the gradual
cultivation of greater vitality, clarity, endurance, and inner steadiness.

What You'll Learn

Food & Digestion

Every meal either strengthens the body's natural order or asks it to compensate.

In Yoga, food is understood not only by what it contains, but by how well it can be received, digested, and transformed into vitality. You will learn how timing and preparation determine whether food builds energy — or consumes it.

Breath & Vitality

The strength of your breathing is one of the clearest measures of vitality — and a powerful predictor of long-term health.

Yet most people have never learned to breathe well. You will learn traditional practices that expand the body's capacity for breath, regulate the heart and nervous system, and restore the steadiness needed for clear attention, deep sleep, and repair.

Sleep & Restoration

Each night, the brain must clear the waste produced through the activity of the day.

Deep sleep is not simply unconsciousness. It is a period of cleansing, regulation, and renewal that depends upon the rhythm established while you are awake. You will learn how food, breath, light, movement, and attention prepare the body for truly restorative sleep.

Movement & Circulation

The body begins losing circulation whenever it remains still for too long.

Yogic movement is not practiced only for strength or flexibility. It keeps blood, lymph, and breath moving through the whole organism. You will learn simple ways to restore circulation throughout the day, before stiffness, stagnation, and fatigue become established.

Attention & Recovery

The body cannot tell the difference between a genuine threat and a mind that will not stop working.

Every unfinished thought, every notification, every unresolved worry keeps the same systems active that once existed to escape danger — and a body defending against danger cannot, at the same time, repair itself. You will learn how silence, sensory restraint, and disciplined attention interrupt this state, allowing the nervous system to finally stand down, and the deeper work of restoration to begin.

The Knowledge Behind the Retreat

The Healing Retreat draws on decades of direct experience in yogic practice and natural health.

Guidance is offered by experienced Ashram residents, led by Dr. Shyam and Dr. Lescault, both PhDs. Each principle is taught the way it can be lived—not just learned.

A retreat that begins before you arrive and continues after you leave.

The main differences between our Immersion Retreats and our Healing Retreats:

Before You Come

A phone consultation before you arrive, to understand your health, your habits, and the specific goals you have for your retreat.

A Traditional Yogic Massage

…is included in every Healing Retreat. Medicinal oil, expert pressure, supported movement, and deep stretching work together to release long-held tension, restore circulation, and leave the body profoundly open, settled, and renewed.

The Day You Arrive

A private consultation with Dr. Shyam or Dr. Lescault, looking at how your breath, sleep, digestion, and daily rhythm work together — and where change can begin.

Personalized Healing Program

Practical guidance for food, breath, movement, sleep, and daily rhythm, so what you discover here is just the beginning.

AUM

The retreat will last only a few days. What it allows can shape the rest of your life.

Simple, comfortable rooms offer a quiet place to rest between practices.

Guest accommodations are set within the forest, close to the daily life of the Ashram.

Comfortable spaces offer room for reading, contemplation, and simply slowing down.

Who This Retreat Is For

This retreat is for anyone ready to understand their own health more deeply than a diagnosis or prescription ever could.

Each retreat is complete in itself, while returning guests have the opportunity to go deeper—building upon what they have already learned and what has changed in their health and daily life.

A maximum of four guests enter the retreat together, sharing its rhythm of practice, meals, silence, and daily life on the land. Because that continuity is essential, the retreat is not suited to someone experiencing serious or acute illness or requiring continuous medical care during their stay.

For those unable to join a retreat because of a health condition, The Center for Natural Healing offers access to this same knowledge through more individualized guidance and ongoing personal care.
