Mahāśivarātri
The Great Night of Lord Shiva
March 6th, 2027
What would it mean to remain deeply steady in a world that never stops moving? Mahāśivarātri—the Great Night of Śiva—is one of Yoga’s great celebrations of that possibility.
In the Yogic tradition, Śiva is the Ādi Yogi—the primordial Yogi—and the embodiment of the profound inner stability toward which Yoga leads. At Sat Manav, the day unfolds through Yoga, sacred ceremony, extraordinary food, and celebration, with special instruction in meditation and an evening practice devoted to experiencing that stability directly.

YOGIC PRACTICE
Preparing for Stillness
Explore Āsana and Prāṇāyāma as preparation for meditation, cultivating the steadiness and ease that allow attention to turn inward. On Mahāśivarātri, stillness becomes the foundation for deeper awareness.
SACRED TEACHING
The Mahāmṛtyuñjaya Mantra
Learn the meaning and pronunciation of one of Yoga’s most ancient mantras, then experience it through collective Japa—rhythmic repetition that gathers scattered attention, quiets mental activity, and draws the mind toward greater stillness.
SACRED CEREMONY
Mahā Liṅgam Pūjā
Experience an ancient Yogic ceremony centered on the Liṅgam, a sacred symbol of consciousness and the formless. Through mantra, offering, and sustained attention, Pūjā transforms outward ritual into an inward practice of concentration, reverence, and meditation.
